JOB TITLE:  PAYROLL SPECIALIST

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for all areas relating to payroll processing. This position will be responsible for the accurate preparation, documentation, and distribution of payroll via the payroll system. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of employee activities including payroll processing, historical and new client data, and reporting as needed for each client.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Reviews the computation of pay and ensures the company payroll policies are in accordance with the government regulations
  • Works as a team to coordinate payroll in a timely manner with over 60 clients each week
  • Collects, reviews, analyzes, and enters new data for new clients
  • Responds to and resolves any inquiries regarding paychecks
  • Create a positive customer service experience for all work site employees, staff, and clients
  • Collaborates with other departments to support overall department goals and objectives
  • Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Works with the Payroll Director to ensure timely turnaround of client requests to stay on project deadlines
  • Assists in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department
  • Supports Payroll Director with special projects and workflow process improvements
  • Provides training to new and existing staff as needed while keeping training documents updated
  • Maintains and audits payroll records to ensure compliance
  • Updates changes in pay and tax status
  • Generates necessary reports

EDUCATION & SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or two years of relevant work experience
  • Must be PC proficient with strong Microsoft Office understanding
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced setting to meet deadline requirements

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum two years payroll processing experience
  • Knowledge of PrismHR software
  • Experience with historical data preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred

  • Starting salary $45,000 or dependent on experience
