Job Description

The Investment Fund Accountant is responsible for assisting the CFO in completion of investment fund accounting and reporting. Primary responsibilities include working with the accounting and investment teams on fund accounting, fund reporting, capital calls, as well as preparing for year-end audit and tax reporting. This role will be responsible for the accounting function of Elevate's investment funds.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role, an individual must be able to perform in a satisfactory manner the functions listed below.

  • Prepare quarterly and annual financial reporting packages for Elevate investment funds. This includes updating portfolio investment schedules, portfolio company summaries, and preparing capital account statements.
  • Post daily transactions to QuickBooks, Allvue, and other accounting software for Elevate's direct investment funds
  • Prepare quarterly portfolio company valuations via public market comparables analysis, 409A review, and liquidation waterfalls.
  • Forecast weekly cash flows at fund level
  • Prepare and process capital calls and distributions.
  • Assist CFO with the annual audit for all funds. Prepare all schedules for the audit.
  • Work with general partners and portfolio company management to fund investments. Manage receipt of capitalization tables and financing documents from portfolio companies.
  • Manage investor inquiries and information requests, including audit confirmations.
  • Maintain fund and management company general ledgers including, but not limited to recording of expenses and journal entries in Allvue and QuickBooks.
  • Assist with preparation of external presentations for fundraising and the annual investor meeting.
  • Prepare pro-forma financial statements and projected financial statements for the funds, including IRR calculations.
  • Perform special projects for the Managing Partners.
  • Assist CFO with assembling audit and tax documentation and supporting schedules, including interest calculation worksheets, depreciation schedules, prepaid and accrual schedules
  • Assist CFO with annual budgeting and Periodic Forecasting by evaluating historical expense trends and budget assumptions
  • Draft wire transfers for investments
  • Process and track capital calls
  • Monitor bank balances and transfer funds as needed
  • Self-motivated and able to prioritize and juggle multiple tasks and projects
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong computer skills in the operation and function of all programs used by the organization including Quickbooks, Microsoft Office, Concur, Allvue, Salesforce
  • Able to read and interpret agreements, then implement the relevant provisions of these agreements
  • Highest personal integrity and exceptional work ethic
  • Credible, ethical, full disclosure and clean financial history
  • Understands the ethical standards of a CPA, including internal and external confidentiality
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Able to analyze, organize, summarize and articulate complex financial information

  • Task and goal oriented with strong project execution capabilities and capable of functioning in an entrepreneurial and corporate setting

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CFA, CMA or CPA candidate strongly preferred, but not required
  • 2 to 3+ years of experience in venture capital or private equity
