Authorizations Representative
Orthopedic Physician Associates, a premier orthopedic practice minutes from downtown Seattle, is looking for a full time qualified individual to join our Business Office as an Authorizations Representative.
The primary role of the Authorizations Representative is to obtain timely surgery and office authorizations from various insurance companies. This position also entails obtaining patient benefits for procedures and advising patients of any out of pocket expenses (including surgery estimates).
The ideal candidate will possess a friendly, accommodating and positive demeanor and be a flexible and highly organized team player who interfaces well with physicians, staff and patients. Outstanding phone etiquette/customer service skills, attention to detail and excellent follow through are required.
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
Obtaining surgery, MRI, injections or office authorizations from various insurance companies prior to the procedure
Advise patients of any out of pocket expenses/private pay responsibilities
Verify patient eligibility and benefits for procedures
Communicate status of upcoming surgeries to patients
Assist other Authorization Representatives when needed
Desired Experience:
A minimum of one year solid medical authorization/referral experience preferred
Surgical authorizations experience preferred (or general orthopedic business office knowledge)
Understanding of medical billing
EPIC and/or NextGen software experience preferred
